What is Plex?

Plex is a versatile media server that organizes and streams your digital content, including videos, music, photos, and audiobooks. It acts as the engine that stores your audiobook files in one central location (your Plex server) and streams them to multiple devices.

Why use Plex with Bookcamp?

Bookcamp is an audiobook player app for iOS and Android that connects to your Plex server to provide a better audiobook listening experience than Plex offers. Together, they enable:

  • Stream your audiobook collection to any device

  • Sync playback history across devices

  • Access your library remotely

  • Browse large audiobook collections efficiently

What you’ll need

  • A computer, NAS device, or dedicated server to run the Plex server

  • Plex Media Server software (free)

  • Bookcamp app

  • Your audiobook files (in MP3, M4B, etc.)

Note: Plex has started enforcing a Plex Pass subscription for remotely streaming video content. However, this restriction does not apply to audio content, so you don't need a Plex Pass to stream audiobooks with Bookcamp.
